FACTS ABOUT THE STORY: SOME QUESTIONED ANSWERED

What prompted you to write this story?
“What prompted me to write this short story was that it was a cold winter day and I was watching a commercial for a vacation package to a tropical destination.  I thought to myself ‘ I wish I could get from my living room to this destination instantaneously without an airplane.’ Hence, the story developed from there.”
How long did it take to write it?
“The story, in total, took about 8 months to write.”
Have you always liked SCI-FI?
“I have always liked SCI-FI, especially in movies.  I am a bigger Star Wars fan, than Star Trek, especially because I was only 14 years old when Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was released.”
How did the plot come about?
“The plot came about when I had to have a scientist invent the Transporting Device for good intentions.  I wanted to add suspense and drama to the story by having those with selfish gains use it for malevolent purposes.”
Why a short story and not a full-length novel?
“I wanted the story to be read in a single sitting.  I felt I could sum up the ending of the story, with it’s underlying theme of hope, better in a short story rather than a full length novel.”
Or at least a collection of short stories?
“A collection of short stories would have had a detrimental effect of making the Transporting Device story seem less important.”
Won’t it be difficult to market one story?
“It won’t be difficult to market one short story.  That is because with retailers such as AMAZON and CHAPTERS enabling independent authors to upload stories to sell on their websites– and by having readers download them on their computers, e-readers, and tablets– it is much easier than the old days when distribution channels were more costly and complicated by having to distribute short stories as a collection of short stories in a printed form.”
